Suspicious Sumerian seals.

I have to say, the bird like figure does look like a space ship with aliens on it. More interesting is this seal with a solar system on it.

According to the stories it includes the destroyed planet that became the asteroid belt. I counted, there are 11 in total. Since I’m pretty sure only the moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn and Jupiter are visible with the naked eye, that leaves four unaccounted for..

UFO video from Haiti.. is a hoax

Some French guy made it as a showcase for his skills for getting an SFX job in the movies.

Barzolff, Sam said, wished to remain anonymous, but he was prepared to share the full story of the videos. I agreed not to reveal his real name. Then I was all ears as Sam began parroting into the phone the words I could hear Barzolff saying in the background.

The 35-year-old Barzolff is a professional animator who attended one of the most prestigious art schools in France and has a decade of experience with computer graphics and commercial animation.

It took Barzolff a total of 17 hours to make both the Haiti and Dominican Republic videos. He did it all by himself using a MacBook Pro and a suite of commercially available 3-D animation programs, including Vue 6. The videos are 100% computer-generated.

The videos, he said, were intended as research for a feature film project he’s been working on with Partizan, the France-based production company responsible for, among others, Michel Gondry’s “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.”

When contacted to verify the story, “Eternal Sunshine” producer Georges Bermann said it was all true, and that Barzolff was “an absolute genius” who could “make anything look entirely real.”

To prove that he was truly behind the videos, Barzolff agreed to provide the L.A. Times with a new spacecraft video. Called “Proof,” the video depicts a small version of one of the spacecraft floating above a Paris street. As the camera pans over, the viewer sees two elderly women at a cafe, one of whom is holding a remote control device. Humorously, of course, this video makes use of computer graphics as well.

The movie Barzolff is working on for the big screen is about two guys who create a UFO hoax so realistic that it spirals out of their control. “For better or worse,” said Barzolff, who cited being “overwhelmed” by the response to his video as one of the reasons he didn’t want to go public with his name.

Barzolff stressed the videos were not intended as a viral marketing ploy. His movie is still in the idea phase, and he created the hoax strictly as a “sociological experiment” — in other words, just to see what would happen.

What happened far exceeded his expectations.

After he finished producing the videos, he posted them and went to bed. “I thought they would reach perhaps 2,000 people,” he said through Sam.

“When I woke up the next morning there were 70,000 views,” on the Haiti video. “Twenty minutes later it was up to 130,000 views. It grew exponentially from there.”

Barzolff called the results of his experiment “entertaining, thrilling, completely addictive, and a little scary.”

The scary part, he said, was that in spite of the evidence, “many people refuse to believe it’s a hoax”.

And here is his quickly knocked together ‘proof video’. And his channel on youtube.

Ezekiel’s spaceship.

Ezekiels spaceship.

As I looked, behold, a stormy wind came out of the north, and a great cloud, with brightness around it, and fire flashing forth continually, and in the midst of the fire, as it were gleaming metal.

And from the midst of it came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had a human likeness,

but each had four faces, and each of them had four wings.

Their legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the sole of a calf’s foot. And they sparkled like burnished bronze.

Under their wings on their four sides they had human hands. And the four had their faces and their wings thus:

their wings touched one another. Each one of them went straight forward, without turning as they went.

10 As for the likeness of their faces, each had a human face. The four had the face of a lion on the right side, the four had the face of an ox on the left side, and the four had the face of an eagle.

11 Such were their faces. And their wings were spread out above. Each creature had two wings, each of which touched the wing of another, while two covered their bodies.

12 And each went straight forward. Wherever the spirit would go, they went, without turning as they went.

13 As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, like the appearance of torches moving to and fro among the living creatures. And the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.

14 And the living creatures darted to and fro, like the appearance of a flash of lightning.

15 Now as I looked at the living creatures, I saw a wheel on the earth beside the living creatures, one for each of the four of them.

16 As for the appearance of the wheels and their construction: their appearance was like the gleaming of beryl. And the four had the same likeness, their appearance and construction being as it were a wheel within a wheel.

17 When they went, they went in any of their four directions  without turning as they went.

18 And their rims were tall and awesome, and the rims of all four were full of eyes all around.

19 And when the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them; and when the living creatures rose from the earth, the wheels rose.

20 Wherever the spirit wanted to go, they went, and the wheels rose along with them, for the spirit of the living creatures  was in the wheels.

21 When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those rose from the earth, the wheels rose along with them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.

22 Over the heads of the living creatures there was the likeness of an expanse, shining like awe-inspiring crystal, spread out above their heads.

23 And under the expanse their wings were stretched out straight, one toward another. And each creature had two wings covering its body.

24 And when they went, I heard the sound of their wings like the sound of many waters, like the sound of the Almighty, a sound of tumult like the sound of an army. When they stood still, they let down their wings.

25 And there came a voice from above the expanse over their heads. When they stood still, they let down their wings.

26 And above the expanse over their heads there was the likeness of a throne, in appearance like sapphire;  and seated above the likeness of a throne was a likeness with a human appearance.

27 And upward from what had the appearance of his waist I saw as it were gleaming metal, like the appearance of fire enclosed all around. And downward from what had the appearance of his waist I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and there was brightness around him.

28 Like the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud on the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness all around.

Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. And when I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard the voice of one speaking.

 *                   *                *

So here is my interpretation of all this (not being a Christian, I feel no guilt about dissecting a script like this).

As I looked, behold, a stormy wind came out of the north, and a great cloud, with brightness around it, and fire flashing forth continually, and in the midst of the fire, as it were gleaming metal.

Ezekiel see’s an ‘Independence Day’ style cloud of fire and smoke coming towards him, possibly retro rockets. In one translation of this text, I’ve seen the description of the lights flashing around/circling the metal object in the middle of the fire and smoke.

And from the midst of it came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had a human likeness,

I find it interesting that the text says ‘the likeness of four living creatures’ and not living creatures. This could just be a quirk of translation, but it does leave the option open for something metal that just resemble a human form a little.

But each had four faces, and each of them had four wings.

The ‘four faces’ could be read as in ‘faces on a cube’, so with a big metal cube at one end, possibly the housing for the ‘wings’.

‘Their legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the sole of a calf’s foot. And they sparkled like burnished bronze.’

This seems to describe some sort of cushioned landing gear at the base of the ‘beings’.

Under their wings on their four sides they had human hands. And the four had their faces and their wings thus:

Their wings touched one another. Each one of them went straight forward, without turning as they went.

Such were their faces. And their wings were spread out above. Each creature had two wings, each of which touched the wing of another, while two covered their bodies.

And each went straight forward. Wherever the spirit would go, they went, without turning as they went.

The description of the four wings touching each other and moving as one is an excellent description of helicopter rotor blades. The descriptions of the ox face/human face seem to be decorative effects on the rotor housings.

As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, like the appearance of torches moving to and fro among the living creatures. And the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.

And the living creatures darted to and fro, like the appearance of a flash of lightning.

This is an interesting passage. It suggests to me that the ship was glowing red from the heat of re-entry, and was having electrical discharges sparking across it.

Now as I looked at the living creatures, I saw a wheel on the earth beside the living creatures, one for each of the four of them.

As for the appearance of the wheels and their construction: their appearance was like the gleaming of beryl. And the four had the same likeness, their appearance and construction being as it were a wheel within a wheel.

When they went, they went in any of their four directions  without turning as they went.

And their rims were tall and awesome, and the rims of all four were full of eyes all around.

And when the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them; and when the living creatures rose from the earth, the wheels rose.

Wherever the spirit wanted to go, they went, and the wheels rose along with them, for the spirit of the living creatures  was in the wheels.

When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those rose from the earth, the wheels rose along with them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.

And these are the wheels the come out out the landing gear. Beryl translates as bronze, I believe. The eyes around the rims could be interpreted as as bolts or screws.

Over the heads of the living creatures there was the likeness of an expanse, shining like awe-inspiring crystal, spread out above their heads.

This could be the metallic body of the craft, or a description of the cockpit (it’s described as a crystal dome in some translations).

And when they went, I heard the sound of their wings like the sound of many waters, like the sound of the Almighty, a sound of tumult like the sound of an army. When they stood still, they let down their wings.

So when the wings moved it made a loud noise (again, I’m thinking helicopter).

And there came a voice from above the expanse over their heads. When they stood still, they let down their wings.

And above the expanse over their heads there was the likeness of a throne, in appearance like sapphire;  and seated above the likeness of a throne was a likeness with a human appearance.

Someone speaks to Ezekiel from the craft, after turning of the engines. Ezekiel can see a man seated inside through the glass, on a blue pilots seat.

And upward from what had the appearance of his waist I saw as it were gleaming metal, like the appearance of fire enclosed all around. And downward from what had the appearance of his waist I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and there was brightness around him.

Like the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud on the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness all around.

The pilot seem to be wearing some kind of metallic space armour, and it’s reflecting the lights from the cockpit instrument array, in all different colours.

I have to say, this doesn’t sound like a technology any more in advance of what we could muster up today. I suppose if a bronze age goat herder saw a modern Chinook helicopter the description might well read something like this.

Probability, a pretty low 1%.

Very odd though.

An ice age sphinx? Probably not.

The greatest monumental sculpture in the ancient world, the Sphinx is carved out of a single ridge of stone 240 feet (73 meters) long and 66 feet (20 meters) high. The head, which has a markedly different texture from the body, and shows far less severe erosion, is a naturally occurring outcrop of harder stone. To form the lower body of the Sphinx, enormous blocks of stone were quarried from the base rock (and these blocks were then used in the core masonry of the temples directly in front and to the south of the Sphinx). While a few stubborn Egyptologists still maintain that the Sphnix was constructed in the 4th Dynasty by the Pharaoh Chephren (Khafre), an accumulating body of evidence, both archaeological and geological, indicates that the Sphinx is far older than the 4th Dynasty, and was only restored by Chephren during his reign. There are no inscriptions on the Sphinx, or on any of the temples connected to it that, that offer evidence of construction by Chepren, yet the so-called ‘Inventory Stele’ (uncovered on the Giza plateau in the 19th century) tells that the Pharaoh Cheops – Chephren’s predecessor – ordered a temple built alongside the Sphinx, meaning of course that the Sphinx was already there, and thus could not have been constructed by Chephren.

A much greater age for the Sphinx has been suggested by R.A. Schwaller de Lubicz, based upon geological considerations. Schwaller de Lubicz observed, and recent geologists (such as Robert Schoch, Professor of Geology at Boston University) have confirmed, that the extreme erosion on the body of the Sphinx could not be the result of wind and sand, as has been universally assumed, but rather was the result of water. Geologists agree that in the distant past Egypt was subjected to severe flooding. Wind erosion cannot take place when the body of the Sphinx is covered by sand, and the Sphinx has been in this condition for nearly all of the last five thousand years – since the alleged time of its 4th Dynasty construction. Furthermore, if wind-blown sand had indeed caused the deep erosion of the Sphinx, we would expect to find evidence of such erosion on other Egyptian monuments built of similar materials and exposed to the wind for a similar length of time. Yet the fact of the matter is, that even on structures that have had more exposure to the wind-blown sand, there are minimal effects of erosion, the sand having done little more than scour clean the surface of the dressed stones.

Additional evidence for the great age of the Sphinx may perhaps be indicated by the astronomical significance of its shape, being that of a lion. Roughly every two thousand years (2160 to be exact), and because of the precession of the equinoxes, the sun on the vernal equinox rises against the stellar background of a different constellation. For the past two thousand years that constellation has been Pisces the Fish, symbol of the Christian age. Prior to the age of Pisces it was the age of Aries the Ram, and before that it was the age of Taurus the Bull. It is interesting to note that during the first and second millennia BC, approximately the Age of Aries, ram-oriented iconography was common in Dynastic Egypt, while during the Age of Taurus the Bull-cult arose in Minoan Crete. Perhaps the builders of the Sphinx likewise used astrological symbolism in designing their monumental sculpture. The geological findings discussed above indicate that the Sphinx seems to have been sculpted sometime before 10,000 BC, and this period coincides with the Age of Leo the Lion, which lasted from 10,970 to 8810 BC.

Further support for this vast age of the sphinx comes from a surprising sky-ground correlation proven by sophisticated computer programs such as Skyglobe 3.6. These computer programs are able to generate precise pictures of any portion of the night sky as seen from different places on earth at any time in the distant past or future. Graham Hancock explains in Heaven’s Mirror that, “computer simulations show that in 10,500 BC the constellation of Leo housed the sun on the spring equinox – i.e. an hour before dawn in that epoch Leo would have reclined due east along the horizon in the place where the sun would soon rise. This means that the lion-bodied Sphinx, with its due-east orientation, would have gazed directly on that morning at the one constellation in the sky that might reasonably be regarded as its own celestial counterpart.”

The foregoing discussion means that the monumental sculpture of the Sphinx may have existed at a time when (according to prevailing archaeological theory) there were no civilizations on earth and humans had not yet evolved beyond hunter-gatherer lifestyles. This matter is so radical that scholarly reticence in acknowledging it is understandable. If the Sphinx is indeed this old then contemporary assumptions regarding the development of civilization must be entirely reworked and the mystifying question of Plato’s Atlantis should be given very serious consideration.

This is an article I’ve borrowed from somewhere on the internet. Firstly, I’d like to point out that the Sphinx is a naturally occurring huge lump of stone sitting on the sand, so attributing an astrological configuration to it is dubious at best, as it wasn’t placed in that position. The builders had to work with what they had, where it was.

Also, recent surveys of the Sphinx have shown that it’s eroding at a frighteningly quick rate, and some of the information I’ve seen suggest that the fissures aren’t caused by water at all, by various other causes, with the main culprit simply being the poor quality of the stone that the Sphinx is carved from.

Then there’s the issue of getting together a workforce to construct such a large object. You’d need sedentary skilled labourers, and for that you need agriculture for many generations prior to build up the skills and numbers necessary.

Agriculture arrived in the Nile Delta  from the near East about 5,500 BC, so this certainly allows for some form of earlier construction , (hunter gatherers don’t seem to go in for building large monuments). The Sphinx is built in the North, near the Nile Delta, so this allows an earlier construction too. So, a very earliest construction date of 5,000 BC then, but probably closer to the orthodox 2,500 BC, bearing in mind the rate of observed erosion on it.

Probability of being 10,500 years old, a pretty unlikely 5%

 Sorry Graham.

A nuclear bomb in the ancient Hindu text, the Mahabharata?

No, I’m not totally  mad. Oppenheimer thought it may have happened. He was very familiar with the ancient Hindu texts. When asked if his was the first ever detonation of of a nuclear bomb, he said. ‘Yes, in modern times’.

A more haunted human will never be seen.

The Epics

The Mahabharata and Ramayana are the national epics of India. They are probably the longest poems in any language. The Mahabharata, attributed to the sage Vyasa, was written down from 540 to 300 B.C. The Mahabharata tells the legends of the Bharatas, a Vedic Aryan group. The Ramayana, attributed to the poet Valmiki, was written down during the first century A.D., although it is based on oral traditions that go back six or seven centuries earlier. The Ramayana is a moving love story with moral and spiritual themes that has deep appeal in India to this day.

This is from the ancient Hindu text the Mahabharata.

“Gurkha, flying a swift and powerful vimana [fast aircraft],
hurled a single projectile [rocket]
charged with the power of the Universe [nuclear device].

An incandescent column of smoke and flame,
as bright as ten thousand suns,
rose with all its splendour.

It was an unknown weapon,
an iron thunderbolt,
a gigantic messenger of death,
which reduced to ashes
the entire race of the Vrishnis and the Andhakas.

The corpses were so burned
as to be unrecognizable.

Hair and nails fell out;
Pottery broke without apparent cause,
and the birds turned white.

…After a few hours
all foodstuffs were infected…
…to escape from this fire
the soldiers threw themselves in streams
to wash themselves and their equipment.”

 A second passage.

“Dense arrows of flame,
like a great shower,
issued forth upon creation,
encompassing the enemy.
A thick gloom swiftly settled upon the Pandava hosts.
All points of the compass were lost in darkness.
Fierce wind began to blow
Clouds roared upward,
showering dust and gravel.

Birds croaked madly…
the very elements seemed disturbed.
The sun seemed to waver in the heavens
The earth shook,
scorched by the terrible violent heat of this weapon.

Elephants burst into flame
and ran to and fro in a frenzy…
over a vast area,
other animals crumpled to the ground and died.
From all points of the compass
the arrows of flame rained continuously and fiercely.” — The Mahabharata

From the Ramayana

“(It was a weapon) so powerful
that it could destroy the earth in an instant–
A great soaring sound in smoke and flames–
And on it sits death…” . — The Ramayana

For something written before the first nuke was detonated, it does a stand up job of describing deaths from radiation poisoning, and the blast itself.

Other reading seems to place the site as being in Rajasthan, West of Jodhpur, where there is a very radioactive piece of land. There’s a high rate of birth defects in the area.

Of course, this could also be a damned great comet or asteroid impact of the ‘Tunguska’ variety, with some heavy metal poisoning thrown in, and plenty of myth involved.

Chances of being real, 1% (never say never).

The drowned temple off the coast of Japan.

First of all, a few things about prehistoric Japan.

The first people living in Japan were the Jomon people, who were ethnically very different to the modern Yayoi Japanese people. They were the ancestors of the the Ainu  people, and they were not a ‘Mongoloid’ people. They have a roughly Caucasian face skull shape, occasionally light brown or blue/grey eyes, very thick body hair and bushy beards. Sometimes their hair is a reddish brown or brown in colour, and is like Caucasian hair in cross section under a microscope. Genetically, they appear to have been all Asian though.

The Yayoi (Mongoloid Koreans) moved into Japan a few thousand years ago, and all the evidence is that that the Samurai classes have a lot of Ainu ancestry in them. This would suggest it was a population movement, not some military conquest on the part of the Yayoi.

The worlds oldest pottery  is from these people, the commonest age estimate seems to be about 16,500 years old for it. They are also thought to have been practising some kind of agriculture a very long time ago, although it hasn’t been proved, but the sudden appearance of Jomon tooth decay  is what is known as ‘a dead giveaway’ that they swapped from a hunter gatherer lifestyle to an agricultural one at about the same time they began making pottery. Probably growing taro.

Also, pottery is another good indicator of a culture that’s become sedentary/agricultural. Pots are heavy and they break easily, not something a nomad would use. A great example of this is the Venus of Dolni Vestonice, a ceramic object from the Czech republic about 26,000 years old. Mesolithic people knew how to make ceramics, they just didn’t find them convenient for containers when they were mobile.

What all this text is building up to is; that it was perfectly possible for an ice age civilisation in Japan to have been organised enough to carry out the kind of work necessary to hack a huge shrine out of raw rock. As for it’s underwater location, about 10,000 years ago the ice age ended and the sea levels went up by about 100m. This would have submerged a lot of the land that would have ben prime farmland and urban sites, as humans have a fondness for building cities along estuaries.

The Yonaguni Monument.

This is found off the coast of Okinawa, which is fairly close to Taiwan. It is a very, very big structure.  Although most of it seems naturally occuring and similar to other cliffs in the area, there are indications it was worked on to enhance its appearance. Really, a lot of it could just be natural, but the chunk of carved rock under the face in this sequence, I don’t see how a natural phenomena could cause that.

This face resembles an Ainu face, deep set eyes and a high bridged nose. It looks to me as if he may have lost the bulk of his nose to erosion or an earthquake. Quite likely, if you consider how geologically active the area is. The head is about 7m high.

Carving on a rock.

The real clincher for me was the stairs.

A model of the whole site.

From National Geographic

Yonaguni Jima is an island that lies near the southern tip of Japan’s Ryukyu archipelago, about 75 miles (120 kilometers) off the eastern coast of Taiwan (see map).

A local diver first noticed the Yonaguni formations in 1986, after which a promontory on the island was unofficially renamed Iseki Hanto, or Ruins Point
The district of Yonaguni officially owns the formations, and tourists and researchers can freely dive at the site.

Some experts believe that the structures could be all that’s left of Mu, a fabled Pacific civilization rumored to have vanished beneath the waves.

On hearing about the find, Kimura said, his initial impression was that the formations could be natural. But he changed his mind after his first dive.

“I think it’s very difficult to explain away their origin as being purely natural, because of the vast amount of evidence of man’s influence on the structures,” he said.

For example, Kimura said, he has identified quarry marks in the stone, rudimentary characters etched onto carved faces, and rocks sculpted into the likenesses of animals.

“The characters and animal monuments in the water, which I have been able to partially recover in my laboratory, suggest the culture comes from the Asian continent,” he said.

“One example I have described as an underwater sphinx resembles a Chinese or ancient Okinawan king.”

Whoever created the city, most of it apparently sank in one of the huge seismic events that this part of the Pacific Rim is famous for, Kimura said.

The world’s largest recorded tsunami struck Yonaguni Jima in April 1771 with an estimated height of more than 131 feet (40 meters), he noted, so such a fate might also have befallen the ancient civilization.

Kimura said he has identified ten structures off Yonaguni and a further five related structures off the main island of Okinawa. In total the ruins cover an area spanning 984 feet by 492 feet (300 meters by 150 meters).

The structures include the ruins of a castle, a triumphal arch, five temples, and at least one large stadium, all of which are connected by roads and water channels and are partly shielded by what could be huge retaining walls.

Kimura believes the ruins date back to at least 5,000 years, based on the dates of stalactites found inside underwater caves that he says sank with the city.

And structures similar to the ruins sitting on the nearby coast have yielded charcoal dated to 1,600 years ago—a possible indication of ancient human inhabitants, Kimura added.

But more direct evidence of human involvement with the site has been harder to come by.

“Pottery and wood do not last on the bottom of the ocean, but we are interested in further research on a relief at the site that is apparently painted and resembles a cow,” Kimura said.

“We want to determine the makeup of the paint. I would also like to carry out subsurface research.”

Natural Forces

Toru Ouchi, an associate professor of seismology at Kobe University, supports Kimura’s hypothesis.

Ouchi said that he has never seen tectonic activity having such an effect on a landscape either above or below the water.

“I’ve dived there as well and touched the pyramid,” he said. “What Professor Kimura says is not exaggerated at all. It’s easy to tell that those relics were not caused by earthquakes.”

Boston University’s Schoch, meanwhile, is just as certain that the Yonaguni formations are natural.

He suggests that holes in the rock, which Kimura believes were used to support posts, were merely created by underwater eddies scouring at depressions.

Lines of smaller holes were formed by marine creatures exploiting a seam in the rock, he said.

“The first time I dived there, I knew it was not artificial,” Schoch said. “It’s not as regular as many people claim, and the right angles and symmetry don’t add up in many places.”

He emphasizes that he is not accusing anyone of deliberately falsifying evidence.

But many of the photos tend to give a perfect view of the site, making the lines look as regular as possible, he said.

Schoch also says he has seen what Kimura believes to be renderings of animals and human faces at the site.

“Professor Kimura says he has seen some kind of writing or images, but they are just scratches on a rock that are natural,” he said.

“He interprets them as being manmade, but I don’t know where he’s coming from.”

But Kimura is undeterred by critics, adding that the new governor of Okinawa Prefecture and officials from the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization have recently expressed interest in verifying the site.

“The best way to get a definitive answer about their origins is to keep going back and collecting more evidence,” he continued.

“If I’d not had a chance to see these structures for myself, I might be skeptical as well.”

A great site  with more photos, and another with images of the rock carvings on it.

And a youtube vid .

Also, a report concluding that tool marks were in evidence on it

Chances of being a real underwater temple, pretty high at 95%
