Another pilot admits to seeing a UFO, from 1991, Shanghai.

UFO tape recording revealed

AN audio recording of a pilot who saw an unidentified flying object 17 years ago in Shanghai was revealed at the weekend.

The tape was recorded in the cockpit of flight 3556 from Shanghai to Ji’nan, Shandong Province at 6:15pm on March 18, 1991. Numerous people in Shanghai reported seeing the UFO fly over the city’s northwest, and it was seen by witnesses in Wuxi, neighboring Jiangsu Province.

The dialogue between the pilot and control tower was released at a UFO forum on Saturday in Shanghai, the Nanjing-based Jinling Evening News reported.

From 6:12pm to 6:26pm, the UFO followed the flight, varying its form, velocity and altitude, the tape revealed. Flight controllers urged the pilot to change routes several times to avoid colliding with it, according to the newspaper.

The control tower saw the orange flying object first but no trace of the UFO was recorded by airport radar, the newspaper said.

“I saw an unidentified flying object 7 nautical miles away in front of me after taking off. I was heading to 280 degrees and the object was like a ball of fire, about 3 to 5 meters long,” said the pilot on tape.

“It was flying fast toward the northeast and flew further away after I swung to the left. It then turned around and headed toward 100 degrees south, and lowered its altitude.

“I tried to avoid it while it changed its route to the north, when it transformed itself into a long black object and again lowered altitude before rising. It then appeared as a black rectangle and a round ball flying first to the northeast, then the northwest, before rising again.”

Nineteen UFOs have been seen in China since 1971, Wang Sichao, a researcher at Purple Mountain Observatory in Nanjing, said at the forum.

Yet more UFO’s in the UK recently

From Wales on line

Days before the St Athan incident a Bridgend man saw two aircraft, one at 200ft and the other at about 1,000ft, with “bright white lights at the front and flickering red and green lights at the rear.” They flew silently, only emitting a faint drone as they turned and disappeared.

In May a 100ft high green and blue triangle was seen over Pont Robert, Powys, along with ‘pink pulsating lights’.

Spotted near Port Talbot, two clusters of amber, orange and white lights in triangular formations, moving ‘like a bobbing cork’.

Last year one holidaymaker in Cardiff claimed to have seen “spaceships” and that little green men had “abducted his dog, car and tent”.

A silent bright orange globe-shaped light was seen by a Bridgend woman in February 2007, hovering over her mother’s house. “It made me feel weird,” she said.

In March 2006 a pensioner saw cigar shaped lights in the sky, moving down the Garth Mountain at speed for 30 minutes before vanishing.

VIDEO: Is this another UFO captured on film?

29 June 2008

Footage shot by eagle-eyed resident after sighting in Clapham
Paranormal activity is suspected above the streets of Bedfordshire, after a UFO was caught on film in Clapham.

The group has been analysing footage which was captured by an eagle-eyed resident at 9.45pm on Saturday, June 7.
It shows seven red lights moving in formation for around two-and-a-half minutes.

And the group, which covers Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, have stated a very similar incident was reported by three police officers who were travelling in a force helicopter in South Wales the same evening. spokesman, Sharon Chesterman, said: “Put together with the witness statement, we believe there was definitely something going on.

“The interesting thing is that there have been a number of similar sightings in America recently. Those also show seven red lights moving in a circle and then one drops down to create a triangle.

“A UFO is just that – an unidentified flying object. We are not claiming that there are necessarily little green men flying something on film.

“But we want to keep a full track of what sightings there are. Anyone who makes a sighting can let us know about it by filling in a form at so that we can keep a track of what is happening in the area.”

Astronomer claims UFO’s are common.

UFOs not rare but regular – astronomy researcher
By Chen Li  |   2008-6-28  |

AN astronomy researcher reckons UFOs have been visiting Nanjing, the capital city of Jiangsu Province, every five to 10 years for the past three decades, the local Modern Express reported yesterday.

Wang Sichao, a researcher at the Purple Mountain Observatory in Nanjing has been studying UFOs for more than 30 years and says there are explanations for many of them especially those shaped like shooting stars, bright spots, stars and rods.

These are usually natural phenomena or man-made objects, Wang said.

But another seven shapes including spirals, fans, circles, spindles and V-shaped objects remain inexplicable, he said.

These UFOs may well hail from outer space, Wang said.

The first report of a UFO in China was in Nanjing in 1892 when a painting by Wu Youru, a Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) artist showed crowds gathered near Nanjing’s Confucius Temple, looking up at a “fire ball” in the sky, Wang said.

The last visit of a UFO to the Jiangsu city occurred at about 5pm on January 10, 2006 when an orange V-shaped UFO with a long tail was seen near the northern side of the Purple Mountain and over the city’s Jiangning and Jiangpu districts, said Wang.

On January 14, 1999, a rod-shaped UFO appeared for nearly four hours in the skies of Nanjing – the longest UFO sighting on record for the city. Witnesses said the shining red item, which was about 10 kilometers high and three kilometers long, moved slowly across the sky and its lights gradually faded as it passed over the city.

UFOs ‘invade’ Northern Territory town

June 27, 2008 09:58am

RESIDENTS of a small Northern Territory community say they are reeling with shock after four UFOs descended on their outback homes.
Families say they spent hours in fear as what appeared to be spaceships hovered just metres above their houses, the Northern Territory News reports.

Residents of Marlinja, 730km south of Darwin and with a population of 112, said the drama began at 8pm on Sunday.

Resident Janie Dixon said it started as an “ordinary” night.

“The kids were on the basketball courts, shooting a few hoops, and I was indoors talking to my two nieces when we heard a strange, loud noise,” she said.

“We thought it was a jet. I saw what I thought at first was the evening star, the first star you usually see at night.

“But then we saw three red lights in the distance, and the sound kept getting louder.

Ms Dixon said the UFOs hovered above the homes. She said at one stage the phone rang, but went dead when she tried to answer it.

UFO’s are worthy of study

At the moment. I’ll paste a compilation of the latest in the next entry.

David Clarke is a lecturer in journalism at Sheffield Hallam University who believes that UFOs are a worthy subject for academic study.

UFOs are laughed off because of the lunatic fringe who are attracted to the subject and because the media cannot bring themselves to take the subject seriously. But it’s a serious subject. The lack of respect in the media feeds back into popular culture, so that if you’re an academic looking for funding you’re not going to get yourself involved in UFOs and their study because it’s career suicide.

I’ve tried to apply for funding to study this subject and it’s taboo. Nobody’s interested in it because it’s got this image. It’s a real shame, because there’s massive amounts of interesting material, but we’re too close to the material in time. It’s perfectly acceptable for historians to study witchcraft mania in the Middle Ages, but because this is happening here and now, and these are people we can go and speak to, it’s a little too close. When you begin to talk to someone about UFOs, they start to question your own motives for being involved.

If you look at the discussion there’s been in the media as a result of the release of the government’s UFO files, you can’t get away from the question: are they alien visitors? It’s tired. There’s a lot more of interest to academia in these papers than this business about whether or not there are aliens. There are two or three hundred sightings reported to the Ministry of Defence each year, and that is only the people who report things to the MoD. Extrapolate that across the world and you are talking about hundreds of thousands of sightings across the world every year.

People used to come up to the astronomer Carl Sagan after lectures and ask: “Do you believe?” He was struck by the question. Not, is there evidence? But, do you believe? It’s a matter of faith to a lot of people and UFOs can become a substitute for religion. What they like is the mystery, they don’t want a solution. In 1956, an American sociologist joined a flying saucer cult, predicting the end of the world. Obviously this didn’t come to pass, but rather than the people who followed this cult saying what a load of rubbish, they went on to strengthen their belief.

So there is a massive amount of material for sociologists, psychologists, and anthropologists to study. And the Ministry of Defence itself has come to the conclusion that UFOs do exist, but are not spaceships. So these are reports of some kind of natural phenomenon we do not understand, which could be studied by atmospheric physicists. It’s a pity no one takes it seriously.

UFO’s over South America

UFO’s over Lima, Peru, 1995.

Okay, I have no explanation for this one.

Bogota, Coloumbia, 2002.

At 4:15pm, three objects of  unknown origin were seen flying over Bogota (Colombia), where they were witnessed by more than 3,000 people in the city’s business district. The objects were in the vicinity of Cerro El Cable hill and Monserrate, where they remained motionless for 4 minutes. Radio broadcaster “Radiodifusora Nacional” and Todelar phoned Contacto OVNI, a research organization, to discuss this sighting live, and because in recent years this type of phenomenon has become increasingly common over Bogota.

Last March, a “mothership” was captured on video over Barrio Santa Isabel. When the video was analyzed it was possible to see a large tubular object at an altitude of 10,000 feet. According to eyewitness statements made at the UFO conference held by Contacto OVNI, this object headed toward Bogota’s Cerro El Cable, which has been the site of frequent UFO sightings. Likewise, on April 15th of this year, Mr. Oscar Berrio filmed a disc-shaped object in the vicinity of El Dorado Airport, and the sighting is under investigation. The calls received in recent days regarding this phenomenon in the Colombian capital have been numerous

I’m not even going to comment on these.

I have to admit, I’m a UFO believer , of the ‘nuts and bolts’ school of UFOlogy.

So I’m going to say 50% chance of being real. South America is always a hot spot for these guys. The more common good quality digital cameras on phones get, the harder it will be for them to hide!

The alien face on Mars.

Cydonia Mensae

So this is the animation that supports it being some kind of face carved into a Mesa

As does this one.

This one doesn’t though.

The first image of it was shot by Viking 1 on July 25, 1976. It is one of the Cydonian mesas, situated at 40.75° north latitude and 9.46° west longitude. It was discovered by two NASA engineers sorting through the photos.

I have to agree with the NASA line of it being an optical illusion.

Likelihood of it being a real alien carving… 1%

I never say never.  But I’ll eat my hat if it’s true.

Fake or real?

See if you can spot it. Google Earth for ‘Rancho Cucamonga’. Go up to the big highway and slightly to your right. Good luck finding Waldo. The second one just looks like a patch of irrigated land.

This one provenance unknown. I have to say, they both look like weather balloons to me.

Cardiff ‘copter coppers give chase to UFO Aliens visit the land of leeks and daffodils
By Scott Snowden →  21st June 2008

The pilot of a police helicopter was forced to take evasive action to avoid a collision with a UFO as the aircraft was returning to the Ministry of Defence base of St Athan, near Cardiff.

The three airmen described the unidentified flying object as “saucer-shaped”, and proceeded to pursue, getting as far as the North Devon coast.

Journalist’s impression of how the UFO might have looked

This sighting comes only weeks after the MoD began a full disclosure to the public of its UFO-files, in which they state that even air traffic controllers and police officers have seen mysterious craft in the skies over Britain.

The helicopter was stationary, hovering at 500ft and waiting for clearance to land on June 7, when the crew spotted the UFO hurtling towards them from below.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said that they could confirm the Air Support Unit had sighted an unusual aircraft and that this was reported to the relevant authorities for further investigation. The unidentified flying object closed in at great speed, aiming straight for the helicopter, which was forced to swerve sharply.

“They are convinced it was a UFO. It sounds far-fetched, but they know what they saw.”

According to the South Wales Police, the helicopter crew crossed the Bristol channel in pursuit of the UFO, but lost sight of it and were forced to turn back due to low fuel.

From The Sun, some eyewitness accounts..

Dawn Williams, 45, feared an Independence Day-style alien invasion when she spotted a sinister shape in the sky above Aberdare Country Park hours earlier, on June 8.

She said: “It came over the horizon and was travelling for about a minute and a half before it disappeared.

“It was circular and had a dome on top – it looked like a planet with rings. I didn’t say anything at the time because I didn’t think anyone would believe me.”

Cabaret duo Katy Cunnion and Russell Quinn said a weird light in the sky FOLLOWED them on the A5 near Shrewsbury an hour after the ’copter scare.

Katy, 25, said: “It was hovering. At first I thought it was a helicopter, but every time I changed direction it was in the same place.

“It disappeared, then I got a bit freaked out when the light came back close enough for us to see it was saucer-shaped with lights which flashed from one to another in a chain.

Scene of sightings … Bonnybridge Triangle

“It looked like no plane or aircraft I had ever seen.”

It finally zoomed off “like a shooting star” after an hour.

Katy’s description of the UFO matches the one given by the helicopter cops.

Expert David Coggins, who has studied UFOs for 30 years, revealed: “I’m told that in the past three months airline pilots have been reporting at least two or three encounters a week with UFOs over the Bristol Channel.

“Many of them will have rational explanations, but the probability is around 15 to 20 per cent can’t be identified.”

The Ministry of Defence, which investigates UFO sightings, said it was still awaiting the police report on the helicopter incident.

Probability of people seeing something odd.. 90%
